Chicago needs new revenue, so the city government decided to open a city-owned casino.

The money that the casino will be making will be kept by the city for seven years to pay out pensions.

The legislation that has been introduced in the Illinois Senate recently suggests adding new casinos throughout the state to support it.

Also, casinos will be added in Rockford, Vermilion County and Lake County and Smaller casinos will be located in southern Illinois.

That's the idea Democrats are trying to push to the state, and the city casino is the idea of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

The gambling expansion hasn't been an easy idea to bring to the local government. Former Governor Pat Quinn vetoed bills twice, though the idea of getting casino revenue to help the state pay pensions seems promising.

Current governor Brice Rauner has another view on the subject, but he has been having problems in negotiations with the local Democrats.

If the committee approves the bill, it may still get stuck in the Legislature as it has already happened before.
