Delays in Launching Licensed Online Roulette in Spain 12.01.2012

Roulette News

Spanish roulette players will have to wait a little longer before they are able to play their favorite casino game at online casinos that are licensed and regulated by the Spanish government.

The Spanish government was meant to start running its new online gambling scheme from the begging of the New Year, but announced a six month delay in implementing the new regulatory framework.

The Spanish government justified the delay by stating that it wants to allow more time for operators that did not have sufficient time to submit their license applications, to be able to complete their application process before the regulated market is launched.

The reason that many online casino operators were not able to submit their applications by the December 2011 deadline was due to the fact that many were surprised by the rapid change to gambling legislation in Spain.

The new Spanish gambling laws were only introduced in May 2011 and officially passed into law in November 2011. Therefore the December 2011 application deadline gave operators only one month to apply.

Some of the biggest online casino operators such as 888 Casino and Party Casino were able to complete their applications on time and were already granted a license. Now these diligent operators will have to wait another six months before they can offer their wide selection of roulette games that also include Live Dealer Roulette Games.
