A new study has just been published that shows the difference between male and female gamblers when it comes to gambling styles and rates of winning. The player data was taken from two major internet casino websites and surveyed a total of 10,000 players. Researchers collected player data as it pertains to roulette, blackjack and baccarat, three very popular internet casino games.

It should be no surprise that are way more male gamblers than female gamblers but an interesting piece of information that was discovered is that women actually spend more time online gambling. Men, who make up 82% of the gamblers, spent an average of 6.5 hours per month playing games while women spent an average of 9 hours per month. What was not surprising is that women actually deposit less money into their accounts than men, with averages at £67 and £94 respectively. This also led to women losing about a third less of their money when compared to the losses of their male counterparts.

The study also looked at how many men and women were playing each game and the biggest difference was at the game of roulette. The women dominated at the roulette games and 62% of them play roulette as compared to 49% of men. Baccarat had the second biggest divide with 11% of women playing and 18% of men playing. The blackjack numbers were the closest with men playing 33% of the games and women trailing just behind at 27%.

One of the least surprising results was summed up by a researcher that found that men are slightly more reckless when it comes to wagering and prefer skill games whereas women like to channel Lady Luck on random chance games like roulette.
