Real Money Gambling on Facebook 08.08.2012

Facebook, which is arguably the most popular social networking site in the world, is now launching real money gambling on its site. Facebook already has many companies that offer play-money gambling in which members earn Facebook credits and it was only a matter of time before Facebook crossed into real money gaming.

Gamesys is a well-known internet gambling operator based in the UK and previously created Heart Bingo, Sun Bingo and which is a UK site for playing bingo and slot games. Gamesys will know launch its new Facebook app called Bingo & Slots Friendzy.

The app will be available to all of Facebook’s UK members who are over the age of 18. Facebook has stated that it will take measures deny access to the app for underage members and those considered “vulnerable” members. Additionally, Gamesys will supply tools that members can use to help curb gambling addiction. One such tool will be giving members the option to set spending limits which is already offered to those who play at internet-based casinos.

The UK is the first place that Facebook will launch real money gaming and it was chosen because it has “a mature and very well-regulated gambling market.” Gamesys is allowed to offer its real money games in the UK because it is fully licensed in Gibraltar. Both Facebook and Gamesys have chosen to keep the financial details of their agreement quiet.

This first step may have a huge impact on the future of online gambling. Zynga, which is Facebook’s biggest play-money gaming partner, has stated that it will be launching its own real-money games in 2013. There is no news yet as to which games Zynga will introduce in its app but we sure hope there are some roulette games in the selection.
